4. Pre-Made PPC Keyword List &
How To Research Your Own
Finding
proper keywords is what will help you have an
effective PPC (pay per click) ad
campaign. I have created a list of keywords that you can
use to sell Flawless Fitness along with a simple AdWord
recipe that will help you create an ad that lands
the most hits and is brain dead-simple to
follow!
First let's tackle PPC
basics:
If you know what Adwords is about you may skip the following
two paragraphs. If you don't know what PPC is yet or what
I'm talking about, goto Google and type in "fitness" as the
search term. On you right you will see a whack load of text
ads.
YOU are
going to own one of those ads. And you want to optimize
them because as common sense (and raw data) tells us...
the higher the placement of the ad, the more likely
people will click on it. But it is called
Pay-Per-Click... that means you only pay if they click.
But if your ad SUCKS... they won't click... which means
they won't buy the book... which means no $$ for
you!
AdWord Recipe For
Winners:
The PPC Ads have the following basic structure (this is for
Google, Yahoo, MSN, Facebook
etc.)
[TITLE]
[Description Line 1]
[Description Line 2]
[Website Link]
It's
basic but it works. The trick here so to have your chosen
keyword appear once in the title, and once again
somewhere in the description line. This magic bullet of a
technique works like a charm, but you obviously want to
make sure that it is relevant. You don't want your whole
ad to be keywords. Here's an example ad FJ himself would
use.
Flawless Fitness
Book
Fitness books are a
waste of time
and money. But mine isn't, try
it!
www.flawlessfitnessbook.com
Can you guess my chosen keyword? Note
that this whole ad would be clickable. The link at the
bottom is the "visible text" and not the actual value of
the link. The ACTUAL link would be the affiliate link
which you input. You will see this option with major PPC
ad companies.
Ok now that you know how to make the
ad, what type of keyword do you pick? Well that's the
next thing we are going to
tackle.
Here are a list of some targeted
keywords that you can use to promote my book. Remember
though, keyword use & competition is ALWAYS
changing... so you can use these keywords to drive
traffic and in your PPC ads but the best bet would be to
learn from them and research your own... which I will
show you how to do in a
minute.

I've done my best to
represent keywords that have a decent amount of search results
while having medium or low competition. This is what you should
strive for when creating a PPC campaign. For example, if I want
to use the keyword "fitness"... it would cost me around $7 PER
CLICK or higher. This could get expensive FAST! This is
because "fitness" is searched about 16 million times every
month and therefore the competition on using this word is
massive.
But we don't have to
worry since the word fitness is not really a "sell" keyword.
Even though this term gets 16 million hits, it is very unlikely
that the prospect searching for fitness will BUY a product. You
want to bid on keywords that people use to buy. For example, if
someone was looking to get in shape, they are looking for a
solution and are READY to buy. So if they goto Google and put
in the Keyword "weight loss program"... and let's say your ad
shows up. That prospect will most likely click on your
ad and buy Flawless Fitness and you will make a
nice commission!
You and I might not
have the marketing money muscle of Corporation giants but that
can't stop us because FJ has the brains! We don't need to
Out-Bid them... we just need to Out-Smart them.
Here's how you can research your very
own high-traffic & low-competition
keywords.
1. Head
on over to Goggle's Keyword Tool -> Google Keyword Tool
2. In the first empty white box, type in a few keywords or
phrases (one per line!)
3. Fill in the CAPCHA phrase to make sure you are an
intelligent human
4. Press "Get Keyword Ideas"
Now after a few
seconds of thinking, this tool will spit out a whole whack-load
of keywords with alot of information for you. Here's how to
make sense of it all.
You will see 5
columns, but the first 3 are the ones that are important to us.
The first column shows you your keyword and others like it. The
second column is a small bar which shows the advertising
competition and the third bar shows you how many times that
keyword or phrase has been searched that month.
The formula is
simple, find keywords that have been searched AT-LEAST 5000
times or more while having the lowest advertising
competition.
I generally pick
keywords that have competition of HALF or lower. Usually 1/4 is
a good bet. If you can find keywords that have very little
advertising competition, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT. This stuff is
always changing so check back often. Only MAJOR keywords like
"fitness" will ALWAYS have super-high competition, but the rest
of them fluctuate.
Once you have about
5-7 keywords or phrases, you may add them in the keyword
section of your PPC ad campaign. Remember, if you can use them
in your PPC ad title or description then please do
so!
So there you have it,
a NO-BS & Straight forward guide to creating effective paid
ad campaigns. Another thing to note is that you must always
keep track of your ads. Check them daily and please set a
pricing cap inside the AdWord editor. Start off small by having
a budget of say... $15 a day or even lower. Play around till
you find what works.
Good luck. Remember,
if you can't beat em... out smart em! It's the way of
FJ.
